The ever going saga of the DJ.
Play something with a beat? Be serious! We as DJ’s, know of no songs played in a club, or otherwise, that doesn’t have some sort of beat!
While at the job. You usually have 2 or 3 people say, “I don’t know who sung it and I don’t know the name of the song, but it goes like this…….do do dada ding……..” Please don’t sing for the DJ! It’s bad enough that they have to put up with smoke-filled rooms and dangerous decibel levels all night long. Do them a favor and don’t give them a rendition of your favorite song!
You have been working the club for a while when a customer says, “Everybody wants to hear it!” Oh Sure! You know and polled everyone in the club and, as their spokes person, you are requesting the song.
Some people come over with the statement, “I want to hear it next!”
In my books, the only people who can get away with that kind of statement, is the person that writes the DJ’s paycheck! Plus more than often enough, the dj usually have the next song picked out, qued up, and ready to go. Most dj’s don’t have the time to find the song, get it on the decks, and get it qued up in time to be next.
